When was the last time you looked at your marketing strategy?

You’re not alone. Even if you do have a marketing strategy, it’s usually not adhered to or updated regularly. In our experience, we have found that many marketing strategies can be over-complicated too, making them simply unachievable.

Yes, there are many more channels / routes to market opening up to the user, but the business goals usually remain the same.

Here are our top 3 tips to help you sort the wheat from the chaff and have a plan that you can both understand and stick to:

Time to dust off your marketing plans?

  1. Keep it simple. If you’re not used to working strategically, break it down into smaller sections and do a bit at a time. Maybe do an audit of your website and print, are they consistent? Can you see that they are all part of the same family?
  2. Use technology wisely. Are you keeping your social media and e-newsletter platforms updated? Its important that if you have decided to have a particular platform that you do keep up to date. New apps are arriving every day, some good and some not so good. Research what might help you and use the one that works best for you – which might not necessarily be the market leader.
  3. Give yourself some time to plan properly. Even if you’re doing it in bite sized chunks, you might still need an hour to look at each one. You could make an appointment with yourself in your diary to ‘focus social media on business goals’ for example.

And now for our latest project!

One of the newest things we’ve been working on is an advertising project with Worthing Journal and the Sussex Attractions group. We have organised a multi-page feature in the May issue of the Worthing Journal, where we’ve sourced the advertising, had artwork designed and worked with the Worthing Journal very closely to make sure the feature works for everybody involved.
Our aim was to help the Attractions save money (through buying as a group) and have a bigger impact when advertising and we are hoping to build on the success of this first feature and forge closer working partnerships with our Sussex Attractions and Sussex magazines. We would love this to be something we can help produce as a regular item for all the Half Terms and Holidays throughout the year.  We are very excited about it so do keep an eye out as it comes out this week 🙂
